Youth Soccer Programs

Footsteps thunder behind you, but the only thing you are focused on is the obstacle in front. The ball is at your feet, with only the keeper to beat. It should be simple, but the excitement and pressure of the occasion is getting to you. There are approximately four seconds until the backtracking defender catches up, unchained from the restraints of dribbling the ball. Noise is amplified at this point; even your own breathing seems like shouts. The crowd is cheering you on. Or are they cheering the defender on? You are panicking, and as you are about to let the ball go just to leave it to fate, you see your family at the corner of the pitch, encouragement and enthusiasm being the only emotions on their jumping bodies. Time moves slowly, and after taking a half-beat, you realize you have more time than you needed. The keeper looks tiny in the goal, and for all the effort of the on-rushing defender, he is hopelessly behind. You relax, and calmly slot the shot in the corner of the goal, by far out of the reach of the goalkeeper who just a moment ago seemed like a monstrous wall with no weaknesses. Next, pure elation. Teammates crowd you, and your coach is bellowing out encouragement.

Youth soccer is one of the most exciting periods of any aspiring athlete's careers. You learn to play the beautiful game with teammates who have similar experience levels as you, all while playing the most fun and accessible sport in the world. Some of the friends you make here will be friends you carry for the rest of your life, and that is partly due to the shared experiences you will be a part of. Wins and losses, crushing defeats and euphoric victories; this sport has it all. Youth soccer is a growing part of America, and the numbers flooding into signups solidify it as the most popular sport in the world. Friends and rivals are part of the game, and it makes every practice and game so much more enjoyable.

Youth soccer programs are excellent socially, but the benefits to the body are undeniable. It is the only major sport that incorporates all parts of the body, starting off with the feet, something that is very difficult to get the hang of. In doing so, it teaches youth athletes valuable coordination and balance, much appreciated assets in any sport they choose to pursue. Obviously, cardio is a major bonus, and if they put in the work there can be tangible benefits to mile time and cardiovascular health. For the local community, youth soccer programs can bring in businesses, sponsorships, and community togetherness, making it a win for everyone.
